Filing Complaints on SCORES – Easy, Transparent & Efficient

The SEBI Complaints Redress System (SCORES) is an empowering initiative by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) designed to provide investors with a simple, transparent, and effective means to raise their concerns and grievances related to India's capital markets. SCORES offers a centralized online platform where investors can lodge complaints against listed companies and SEBI-registered intermediaries in a user-friendly and completely digital environment. To initiate a complaint, investors must first register on the SCORES portal by visiting https://scores.gov.in, where they can create an account using a valid email ID and mobile number. During registration, it is mandatory to provide key details including the full name as per PAN, PAN number, registered address, mobile number, and a valid email ID. Once the registration process is complete, investors can log in to the portal to describe their grievance in detail, attach any relevant supporting documents, and submit the complaint directly to the concerned intermediary or listed company. SCORES not only ensures the efficiency of the redress process through time-bound resolution mechanisms but also offers complete transparency, allowing complainants to track the real-time status of their complaints. It acts as a direct channel of communication between the investor, the involved entity, and SEBI's regulatory oversight, ensuring accountability at every step. Additionally, the platform is entirely paperless, secure, and convenient, eliminating the need for physical documentation and visits. By leveraging technology, SCORES significantly enhances investor protection and reinforces trust in the financial markets by ensuring grievances are addressed promptly and fairly.

Know Your Client (KYC)
- KYC is a one-time exercise while dealing in securities markets. Once KYC is done through any SEBI-registered intermediary (Broker, DP, Mutual Fund, etc.), you do not need to undergo the same process again when approaching another intermediary.
Safeguarding Your Account
- Prevent Unauthorized Transactions: Update your mobile numbers/email IDs with us. This allows you to receive information of your transactions directly from the Exchange / NSDL on your mobile/email at the end of the day or the same day.
- Pledge Mechanism: Stock Brokers can accept securities as margin from clients only by way of pledge in the depository system (w.e.f. September 1, 2020). Update your mobile number & email ID with us to receive an OTP directly from the depository to create the pledge.
Subscribing to IPOs
- ASBA Mandatory: No need to issue cheques by investors while subscribing to an IPO. Just write the bank account number and sign in the application form to authorise your bank to make payment in case of allotment (ASBA). The money remains in the investor's account, so there are no worries for a refund if no allotment is made.
Investment Caution & Due Diligence
- Investors should be cautious on unsolicited emails and SMS advising to buy, sell, or hold securities. Trade only on the basis of informed decisions.
- Investors are advised to invest after conducting appropriate analysis of respective companies and not to blindly follow unfounded rumours, tips, etc.
- Systemic Wrongdoing: You are requested to share your knowledge or evidence of systemic wrongdoing, potential frauds, or unethical behaviour through the anonymous portal facility provided on the BSE & NSE websites.
